Mark Kennett PCIAT was formally inaugurated as the 23rd President of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) at the Institute’s AGM in Manchester on 17 November. Immediate Past President, Jim Kirwan PPCIAT, presented Mark with the presidential Chain of Office, which he will bear for the next two years.
Mark is a partner in a private practice based in Harrogate, Wilson Kennett Partnership, and has a wide knowledge and experience in the discipline of Architectural Technology, specialising in such areas as conservation and sustainability. As a Member of the Institute since 1980, Mark has been actively involved with numerous Committees and Taskforces relating to membership, education and technical issues. In his year as President-Elect, Mark began work on a strategy for international development.
In his first speech as President, Mark outlined his goals over the next two years: ‘I would like to develop a stronger CIAT membership both numerically and structurally. Numerically, I want to see more members of all grades and ages and structurally, I want to see our members realising that they are key professional members of a construction industry team. I plan to develop relationships with sister institutes and government and to encourage people to benefit from the input of Chartered Architectural Technologists and professionally qualified Architectural Technicians.’
